We are pleased to announce a new publication dealing with Chinas relations with the greater Middle East. For some time now, Germany and Europe have been discussing strategies for dealing with China. De-risking, de-coupling and market access restrictions are frequently mentioned key terms. The situation looks entirely different in the Middle East and
neighboring countries. Here, Beijing is succeeding in rapidly expanding its economic and political footprint. In doing so, China is increasingly replacing Western industrialized nations as a provider of high technology. A strategic approach, a willingness to take risks, and the ability to execute large-scale projects are some of the factors at play. Looking at the developments in the Middle East shows that when discussing how to deal with China, a perspective on regions outside Europe is helpful.
